Hairtonix™ provides deep but balanced cleansing. It cleanses by stripping sebum from the hair and scalp but without excessive removal of the lipids that otherwise cause damage to the natural protection that the sebum is meant to provide. Sebum is the oil secreted by the sebaceous gland within the hair follicles and it is readily absorbed on the hair strands. It forms a protective layer that protects the protein structure of the hair from damage, but this protection comes at a cost.

Sebum tends to collect dirt and scalp flakes, which is undesirable for the hair appearance. This combination also provides an ideal opportunity for microbial growth, which causes many scalp disorders.

Our hair has a naturally hydrophobic surface to which sebum sticks and acts as a water repellent. However, this also makes these lipids hard to remove when the hair is rinsed with plain water. When Hairtonix™ is applied to wet hair, it is absorbed into the oil and hair interfaces. It then gradually reduces the inter-facial surface tension and thereby allows for the removal of the sebum, together with any dirt attached to it while keeping the hair shaft intact.
